Grandmaster Tatum Seminar at SASDA
In June 2013, SASDA hosted Grandmaster Larry for an engaging three-hour seminar. Mr. Tatum took the basic concepts of Kenpo and incorporated them into some advanced ideas, giving the students a new way of thinking regarding martial arts. The goal is to allow his students to be able to make choices and not form habits within one’s own body. Integrating anatomy, geometry and philosophy, Master Tatum discussed that Kenpo is not just about the art of moving our bodies in a certain way but knowing how and why those movements are logical. He expressed the ideas and principals of Kenpo integrating into our everyday life.
The seminar culminated with a ceremony recognizing our very own Sensei Donnie Jeffcoat. Grandmaster Tatum honored Sensei Donnie by ranking him up to third degree black in American Kenpo. Overall, this was a special day filled with a ton of new and useful information. Can’t wait for the next one! Thank you Grandmaster Larry Tatum for a great day!
