Black Belt Promotions

A black belt is a white belt who never gave up. As teachers we are also students that never stop learning. At Shaolin American the teachers have become the students at their own personal tests. November marked a much deserved promotion to Black Belt for Mr. Gabriel Pallo!! It was such an amazing and passionate performance. Not only has Gabe become an extremely proficient Kenpoist, but his character and love for our students and the art is a perfect example of what a true Black Belt represents. Thank you for your dedication, love and loyalty.

December also marked a special day of promotions. It is rare that teacher and student get the chance to test together. Both Sensei Donnie Jeffcoat and Sensei Jared Podos presented their skills front of Professor Scott Gonzalez and his dojo, Desert Dragons in Peoria, AZ. The two promoted to fifth and third degree respectively, as they kneeled beside each other tying the first knot of their new ranks.

The beauty of being a Sensei is the gift of knowledge your students share with you…as you teach them and they grow, they teach you and you grow…such a beautiful balance.
